New Year Travel Resolutions: Byron Bay

What new year travel resolutions have you made for 2014? Want to go to an area where you can hike to your hearts content in amongst waterfalls and tropical rainforest? Traipse miles of golden sand beaches? Dance uninhibited at markets and music festivals? Attend healing and spiritual retreats? Be pampered in luxury spas? People watch whilst sipping some of the best coffee around? Spend out in unique, boutique shops?

Although the festivities are all but over in the town that CNN state as one of the top ten places to spend New Year’s Eve, Byron Bay still features highly as a desirable holiday spot for 2014. Amongst other accolades, Trip Advisor called it the Traveller’s Choice 2013 Winner, saying:

Byron Bay’s beaches are dotted with lighthouses and surrounded by bottlenose dolphins, rays, whales and sea turtles. This former New South Wales whaling station turned tourist town is still strongly influenced by its recent bohemian past, when hippie lifestyles flourished. Bongos and didgeridoos sound in parks, sarongs and dreadlocks are common, and vegetarian restaurants abound. Give in to the casual vibe and stroll between beaches and bars for a low-key and happy day.

Sounds pretty holiday perfect, don’t you think? And of course, there’s so much going on with am incredibly eclectic mix of festivals and conferences and events taking place throughout the year.

Fill your days with activities and rich cultural content, or do nothing at all. Whatever suits. That’s how it works around here.

Some of the things to look forward to in 2014 include the Evolve Yoga & Music Festival, which starts tomorrow, the free Full Moon Cinema screening on Valentine’s Day, which is part of the 8th Byron Bay International Film Festival (BBFF), and the 25th Anniversary of the music, art and food extravaganza that is Bluesfest, which is just a few months away.
